Does TimeWhale use any kind of encryption?
Yes! All your sensitive data is encrypted via HTTPS per default.
Is my data safe? Do you make Backups?
Of course we do backups. Every night and before we release a new version, we backup all data. Further, you can always export your data manually. We keep your data are safe.
What about privacy? What do you do my data?
Your data is yours! Your data is only used by us to improve TimeWhale and to analyze our service. We do not share this data with other companies. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Technical

Which browsers does TimeWhale support?

TimeWhale supports all popular browsers for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. More specific, if you use any of the following browser everything should work fine: Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and above, Safari 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 3.0 and above, and Internet Explorer 7 and above.

Sorry, we don't support Internet Explorer 6 because the browser has some serious technical flaws.

Can I use TimeWhale offline?
We are sorry that's currently not possible.
Can I install TimeWhale on my server as well?
No. We truly believe that this is to your advantage. You don't have to install anything or care about updates. But, we also know that using our service means that you are giving us your trust. Thank you.

How does payment work?
TimeWhale accepts Paypal only. Maybe at first this looks like a limitation, but as we stated before, the safety of your data is very important to us. Instead of processing your Credit Card data ourself, we give the job to the world leader in Internet payment processing, Paypal. Your Credit Card data is safe all the way.
How does your refund policy work?
TimeWhale is a month-to-month pay-as-you-go service. You can quit at anytime. When you quit your account, it will be deleted immediately. Hence, you are forfeiting any unused portion of that billing period.
Is there any other fee?
No! No signup fees, no month maintenance fees, no termination fees... no extra fees, ever.

Account

How do I sign into my account?
Your TimeWhale account is a unique address. To log in, you need only to type in your TimeWhale account's, e.g.: http://uniquedomain.timewhale.com Where uniquedomain, of course, is merely a placeholder for your very own account name.
How can I upgrade or downgrade?
The account owner is the only person who can upgrade or downgrade the account. Changing your plan is easy. Just click on the "Account" tab on the Dashboard and then click the link that says, "Change your plan".

Time Tracking

How can I track time?
There are three ways to track time:
  • - Use the timer to "clock in" and "clock out".
  • - Use the quick box at the dashboard, you type in your times.
  • - Create the time record manually with a form.
Can I analyze my time?
Sure, TimeWhale offers you two ways to analyze how you spent your time. With the integrated report feature, you can analyze it right in the application. These reports include "Top Projects", "Top Users", and so forth. If you need more sophisticated reports, just export your time records and import them in Microsoft Excel.
